What do we have to do on the day?
Nothing, just enjoy the day! We do not direct
weddings, we record them. If you have a
photographer we will work carefully with him or
her as a team. Your photographer will organise
anything which requires the co-operation of you
or your guests. One of the greatest compliments
that we receive is that we have hardly been
noticed during the day.
What will be the length of my film?
Brett Vale Studios films are not long drawn out
productions. We would not for example, include
every verse of every hymn or every minute of a
receiving line (please note that we do however
include the vows and speeches in full). We
create contemporary, highly enjoyable,
beautifully made and very watchable videos of
your day, the kind of film that you, your
friends and your family will enjoy watching
time and time again. The main variable factors
governing the length of the film are the length
of the wedding ceremony, the length of the
speeches and the package that you have chosen.
An average length for the platinum package is
75-90 minutes.
How do I know my film will be of a guaranteed quality?
Brett Vale Studios have a Diploma from the
Association of Professional Videomakers and a
Master Membership of the Institute of
Videography. This means that our work has been
scrutinised by the two leading professional
bodies in the wedding film industry and judged
to be of a high standard.
Who will record and edit my film?
Unlike some companies we do not sub-contract
weddings to third parties for filming or
editing. We only accept bookings for work that
we can cover ourselves. This means that your
wedding film will be of the same style and high
standard of the demonstration DVD.
Do you use lighting?
The only lighting we use is an on-camera light
and then only if required during the first
dance, guest interviews and informal parts of
the reception. We have no intention of turning
your wedding into a media event or film set!
When will my finished DVD be ready?
Within two weeks - it should be waiting for you
when you return from your honeymoon!
Will I need to wear a microphone?
Sound is a part of the recording process that
is not always given enough thought. Clear
recording of the sound during the ceremony and
speeches is vital to a good quality film. We
place a discreet lapel microphone on the groom
for the duration of the wedding ceremony. In
most situations the speeches are covered by a
Sennheiser ME66 microphone placed on the top
table - this records sound to our camcorders
but does not provide amplification for your
guests.
What about Insurance and Copyright Licences?
We have professional insurance and licences to film wedding videos. Whilst it’s not a legal requirement, Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurances should be held by professional videomakers. For the use of commercial music we also have the relevant MCPS and PPL Licences.
What camcorders do you use?
We use Sony professional High Definition Video
HVR-Z7E camcorders so that we can produce HDV
films. The high resolution of these camcorders
provides five times the detail of standard
video and together with the interchangeable
high quality Zeiss lenses provides superb
quality for production of Blu-ray and standard
definition DVDs. Their relatively small size
and the fact that they are not shoulder mounted
helps us to remain unobtrusive during your
wedding day.
